Happy Earth Day
Walk the kids to school, walk home. (go about my daily business) Walk to the grocery store with my reuseable tote bag. Walk to school, pick up the kids. Walk home. No driving today. Too bad life isn't always so simple.
Partner designers and friends, we make jewelry, art and dabble in antiques! There isn't a craft we aren't willing to try. We love learning and creating and passing these skills on to others.

Kerry and I saw this creative sign in someone's yard on one of our neighborhood walks. Really, it made me laugh, but also it speaks on so many levels. So in the coming week, remember:
Inspired by other blogs we read, we have decided to make a joint list of our resolutions for 2008. We are aiming high with 30 resolutions . We feel confident we can achieve them all if we work together.
We, Kerry and Rachel, do solemnly swear we resolve.....
1. To wear our cute clothes on a daily basis instead of saving them for special occasions.
2. To light candles nightly in our homes.
3. To greet our husbands in 1950's style, with a smile on our faces and a clean welcoming home.
4. To drink more wine
5. To not complain about doing laundry and how it never ends.
6. To not complain about our children putting clean clothes into the hamper because they don't want to fold them.
7. To wash our cars more than once a year.
8. To find out and share better gossip on our friends and enemies.
9. To drink less wine.
10. To stop wasting hours looking at the internet and forwarding links to each other.
11. To eat more meals consisting solely of appetizers.
12. To find more amusing cards to send to each other.
13. To actually sew instead of just staring in awe over our fabrics.
14. To water our plants regularly not just when they turn brown.
15. To shop sales more diligently.
16. To take more pictures of our children, and less of our craft supplies.
17. To use the fabulous craft supplies we have and not save them for a "special project"
18. To make every project special.
19. To not learn another craft until we finish all the projects we have bought supplies for and never started.
20. To throw more parties.
21. To drink more fine wine.
22. To be brave enough to cut the pretty fabric and papers and not just look at them.
23. To make fabulous tote bags for every occasion.
24. To use the fabulous tote bags on a regular basis.
25. To make fantastic bags and accessories for our children so they too can have an artful life.
26. To walk more.
27. To read more blogs and to comment with witty feedback.
28. To write more witty, crafty blog entries.
29. To have more art give-aways.
30. To host an art swap with all our artsy friends and throw a party to celebrate!

Kerry and I went on our regular walk around Waneka Lake today (in Lafayette, Colorado). It was a lovely fall day. The air was cool, the breeze had a crisp fall smell. The sky was bright blue, not a cloud in sight.
As we walked around the south west side of the lake, we saw a horrible sight! The boathouse was gone, or mostly gone. All that was left was ugly, charred remains. (photo from 9news.com)
We were both saddened by this. We had each brought our kids here to ride on the paddle boats this summer. We have enjoyed looking at it on our twice a week walks.
Later, at home, I tried to find out what happened. Arson is suspected in the Saturday morning fire that destroyed the boathouse and it's contents. There was an estimated damage of $400,000.
It is a shame. A shame to lose an asset to our community; a shame that someone would set a fire; a shame to see such senseless destruction.
Today we were looking for something interesting to occupy our Sunday afternoon. We decided to check out the paddle boats at Waneka Lake (in Lafayette, Colorado). They have a beautiful fleet of brightly colored animal paddle boats. For $6-8 per boat, depending on the size, you can spend 30 minutes tooling around the lake. Believe me, 30 minutes is plenty of time peddling for a 5 and 8 year old. We chose the 4-person, white pelican boat (not pictured). All four of us had a great time peddling around the lake, and watching the fish jump. It was a nice Sunday afternoon.
You can find more information on the City of Lafayette website.
Do you ever need an extra pocket? You know, you want to carry something, but don't want a big purse. Kerry and I have that problem every so often.
We have a resolution to walk. We walk (or try to) each day we work in the studio. We take a 45 to 75 minute walk at least three times a week. We walk to the post office, to the antique market where we have our booth, and then around a nearby lake. The walking is for exercise, but it also gives us some time for chit-chat. Not just your normal chit-chat. We make plans, discuss our business, refocus our direction, plan our next line, and solve the world's problems in general.
So, back to the problem of no pockets. When we leave the house we need keys and our phones (in case one of the kid's schools calls). Sometimes, our oh so cute spring outfits don't have pockets. So we made a solution: pouches. The pouches have a handle so we can hook them over our wrists. They have a snap to hold in the stuff we need to carry. And, they are made of the cutest fabrics we can find!
So, the next time you are running out of the house to solve the problems of the world, don't forget to bring your pouch!
